About this course

Consider all the Foundry applications and functionality that converge in the Workshop module you’ve built. Most of your development on this track has been to improve your module, but Workshop doesn't need to be the terminal point of your development. Workshop itself can be integrated into other Ontology-aware applications.

In an earlier course, you learned that Object Views are "hubs" that contain information, visualizations, and workflows related to individual objects of a given type. You also saw that the Object View builder has default widgets and layouts that support simple tabs and views. You will get far more functionality and flexibility from your object hubs when you back them with Workshop modules than you will using the native Object View builder toolkit alone. In reality, you should learn to skillfully use both development paradigms in a multi-tab object view (see, for example, the Object View for [Example Data] Route).

⚠️ Course prerequisites
  • APPDEV 08: Intro to Functions: If you have not completed the previous course in this track, please do so now.
  • Necessary permissions to edit your organization’s ontology, Object Views, and Workshop modules. Depending on your organization’s governance, not all users may have each of these levels of access. If you don’t have these levels of access and believe that you should, please reach out to your program administrator or Palantir point of contact.
Outcomes

This course has a twofold purpose. It’s primary intent is to show you how to seamlessly integrate a Workshop module into an Object View. Specifically, you’ll generate a Workshop module with flight and delay details around a specific passenger and then embed it into your passenger Object View. The second goal is to provide more practice configuring Workshop modules. You’ll retrace some of the exercise paths from prior courses and add in a few new aspects, too.

Learning Objectives
  1. Gain more practice configuring Workshop modules.
  2. Understand the Workshop setup that unlocks integration with Object Views.
  3. Know how to embed Workshop into an Object View.
Foundry Skills
  • Configure Workshop’s Flows layout option.
  • Create tabbed Workshop sections.
  • Generate Workshop bar charts with the Chart: XY widget.
  • Promote variables for consumption downstream from your application.
  • Create Workshop-backed Object View tabs.
